- The city of Troy has captured the imagination of people for thousands of years and still does. The site of the ancient city has been extensively excavated, revealing the remains of walls, gates, temples, and palaces that date back to the city's golden age. So, you will have chance to see the 3700 year-old city walls, houses of Troy I, 3000 B.C. - 2500 B.C, the Bouleuterium (Senate Building), The odeon, sacrifical altars, remains of various cities from Troy I to Troy IX. Also, you will explore the replica of the famous wooden horse that was used by the Greeks to trick the Trojans into surrendering the city during the Trojan War. You will see to replicas, one at the ancient city and one in the city center. The one in the city center is the actual model horse which was used in the movie Troy. It was donated by production company after the movie’s completion in 2004 to the city of Canakkale, and has been on display along the waterfront ever since.
